Nano Doc

By: Thegreenback

Nano Doc is a side scrolling shooter type game where the world has been infected by a horrible mutating virus that kills loads of people with out warning. As two scientists try a crazy idea to make a little robot to find the virus in the patient and take it out to save them.
The main point of the game is that you are a tiny robot going around in a persons bloodstream. You must take down loads of small viruses as well as a big one that trys to take you out. But you are not alone. Your makers keep you updated on enemies and how they might attack you. You also are fully armed to stop them from killing the host person.
The enemies are varied for each level increasing how hard they are to kill and changing how they attack. In the beginning you start with just a few virus cells that don’t move but shoot back at you. As you get further some rush you with big groups trying to overwhelm you, or spinning around in a circle spamming the screen with shots.
The shooting is different then most as you fight enemies they show up in different colors. From red to blue to green and lastly yellow. As you see them coming up, you hit the buttons on your controller matching the same colors. Red is the B button and X is blue etc. Making it more challenging to figure out what button to hit as the enemies come faster or even in groups of every color. There are also extra things that, if you get fast enough, help you along nicely. By killing enemies, you get a chance to get a short bonus device. Such as increased speed of your shots, shields and shooting all colors at the same time to wipe out all enemies quickly. You can also absorb red blood cells to make your health go back up. Or you can absorb white cells to increase your shooting. You can also charge up cells or viruses into a bomb where you let go destroying and hurting more enemies.
There are 20 different levels to fight through. As the easiest is the first handful but the farther you get in the game the more skilled you have to be. You also get money with the more kills you get from destroying the viruses. And at the end of each level you spend them on upgrading your equipment. Ranging to making you shoot more or faster, have greater health and even extra lives.
At the end of each level there is a giant virus boss. And each one has its own way of attacking you. Some of them spam your whole view with their shots but doesn’t hurt much. As some others only do a few shots but if it hits then takes a lot of your health in one go. As you try and get there health bar down they also call reinforcements to take you out.
The overall is: it’s a fun game. Good use of changing enemies to keep you on your toes. As you feel overwhelmed at times giving you that hard challenge. Can be a good quick pick up game or sit down and try to beat all in one go. So for just 80pts ($1) you should go and try it then buy it.

I would give this 7.2 out of 10.

Sushi Castle

By: Thegreenback

Sushi Castle is a Indie game where you play a ninja going deep into a castle who shoots his way through enemies and bosses.

This is not a normal shooter game. You start off with you looking at the castle then do a short cut scene and you’re then playing in the game. Where you use the left analog stick to move around then the right to shoot towards. With only just the two bumpers and right trigger button to do extra stuff, the controls are very easy to get use to.

As you start out, you only have your trusted dragon cannon gun, that shoots blue spheres, that help you proceed to the next area. You can also find upgrades from entering a room with chests or take your chances with items that you find. As one set of items you can hold in your inventory slot can help you or harm you. Having a rice ball might make your stats go up a lot but loose shooting or attack power with the same item. Giving you that feeling of wanting to try it but not sure if you should. You also have what look like onions that are used as bombs. Using them for enemies to do some major damage or to taking out blocks to get and see what the chests have in them.

Each room you go into is randomly chosen from a decent amount of created room. It also seems you also get random enemies too. From being nothing at all to more than eight at a time, overwhelming you. Each enemy is different, some having to shoot them and knocking them to the ground and having to finish them off or killing them and having them come back to life. With such a variety of enemies you think you won't get used to handling them and taking them out. As soon as you do, you meet a new enemy or they add a few more of them and it become even harder. You can even try out what is kind of a challenge room where you battle waves of enemies. Some being harder than others but if you manage to take them all down you generally get an item that will help you. Some could give you great attack power to kill with fewer hits, or maybe even more health.

You also come across areas that you can buy stuff with the coins that you found from enemies or chests. The shops seem to come far and few between, so if you manage to find it, make sure to stop in and check it out. With other areas that just wont let you leave till everything is killed in that room giving you a challenge. But to cross deeper into the levels of the game you must take on a boss at the end of each level to progress. They are also randomly picked with a few words to you that are ever changing. Some seeming odd and others just humorous. As they each have their own way of attacking you and seeming to make sure you either just live or give you a run for your money. But you also get a item that raises and heals some of your hearts preparing you for what comes next on the new levels.

The overall is that it’s a very fun game. With changing areas and even bosses you never know what is coming next. As even the dialog is different for scenes making it more enjoyable. But you cant see all the room or even the bosses on one total play though  making it have replay value. So if you want to be entertained and have a good time, try out this game and buy it for just 80pts ($1)

Little Ninjas

By: Thegreenback

Is an INDIE fighting game where you can pick and chose a variety of characters for battle. You start out by picking what player you want to be. Letting you change your name and choose what ninja you want to take down your enemies with. As each ninja has their different stats some being better with powers and speed. While others do more damage with just normal attacks. Giving you a variety of ninjas you want to choose from to fit your fighting style. It also means that you can go against your opposite to see what one is better or check out their powers.
You can level up by killing enemies or doing certain requirements that let you gain experience. The powers you acquire are unique to your ninja. Some making you invincible for just a few seconds. Others, doing massive damage to your opponent. But if you die don’t worry you won’t lose any levels just that the enemies will become stronger making it more challenging. It also counts down to your next level of getting new powers, and when you use them there is a cool down meter showing when you can use it again, having some strategic value. It also makes you or your enemies stronger with attacks and health. So if you are a level 15 and a level 2 is attacking you, you can take them out a lot more easily than if your around the same level.
You can do a lot of varied fights such as capture the flag where who killed the last player with the flag is now the new owner and levels up with how long they can hold it. Another is touching a sphere, and staying on it longer, levels you up even faster. Or you can change it up and try to take down waves of enemies as you try to survive it all.
The main point of the game is to reach level 20 and when you reach it you must take out all of the enemies that stand in your way. You can fight just one on one with you VS an AI with just a click of a button. Also available is having a massive battle with your friends on the same console up to four people. Even if you don’t have anyone over you can still have four helping or hurting with teams set up and changing how hard they fight. From training to going onto hard mode.
The overall is that it is a fun game you can just pick it up and go or stay for hours honing your skills. You get a ninja that can jump around and take down enemies and level up to get unique powers. With different fighting arenas you can strategize how to take others out or just hit them in the face. So for only 80pts ($1) go and try out the game and buy it.

Curse Of Shadows

By: Thegreenback

Curse of shadows is a jumping puzzle game where you are Suni, a thief, that has stolen an amulet with magical powers. As a curse crosses the land making people lose their shadows to a demon or spirit. As your gramps goes to try to lift the curse from the people to be a hero. But after a while goes by, Suni tries to go save her grandpa.

As you play the game you have a cool thing that will help you out. Since you have the magical amulet you have the power to shift into your shadow. But you can’t just shift when ever you want. You must be in strong light from a lamp and if you get out of the lamps light you will go back to the normal world. Trying to sneak past the guard who will kill you on site.

Seeing the different worlds are unique and you can just change with a quick push of a button. As you do change from one realm to another each has its own set of rules. In the light you see object as they are with all the colors. But in the dark world you see things in black and white as you no longer can see or be affected by the light world. You must jump on the shadow that will progress you further to where you need to be. To get across areas you need to use both light and dark realms to figure out the puzzle. As you move across the area you see a pole with a red scarf on it is your check point so if you die you will restart there. While the end of a level will have a pole with fireworks.

Trying to get to help your grandpa is a very treacherous journey. As you need to shift into the dark realm to get away from the guards. Who have been told about you and will take you down in a single blow. As well as the other beasts in the shadow realm. As they go looking for things if they spot you best move quickly or jump into the light realm to be safe.

The look of the game is very colorful. It is a cartoonish style of look as it has cut scenes to tell you how the story goes and get to know about Suni. As you play cities going in the background or cherry blossoms falling down from the trees gives it a nice feel to it. While also looking for collectibles throughout the game.

Overall, the game is very challenging with jumping at the right time to tricking guards to try and attack you. The story is sweet and simple, telling you what is going on and why things are happening. Also being able to jump back to any level you want is nice with some secret things if you beat the game. It is a very fun game where you can play a little bit if you want or try and beat it all in one go. For just 80pts ($1) it is a good jumping puzzle game so go try it out and buy it.

Mortal Legacies

 By: Thegreenback

This is an Indie RPG game where you must save Elisia from a terrible thing and talk to the king to help save the world. As you start out it looks like a classic RPG with a story line of heroic proportions. Making your way across the land to reach your life goal of becoming a hero.
As you go across the land each town or area has different looks and the music changes with it. Getting a feel of what might be coming to either harm you or help you. Seeing in various places of how they put details the game in general. Some being that you have a wall of swords and a furnace just gives it that nice touch instead of a dude you just walk to and trade for stuff. You also come across a varied amount of people that you can talk to. Some say things that will make you laugh out loud and others can be serious. It makes you want to talk to everyone you can just to see what they will say. Also with items and gear will make you have a good chuckle with the descriptions.. You can also buy or sell all your gear. With a meter to show how much you can buy of one item with all the gold you have collected. And just a single push of a button you can see how much you can carry for either all your gold or just some with how much it cost. Making it nice to getting what you need and moving to your fights.
You have a varied amount of classes that help you on your journey some being classic that you look for and love. While other can be different but will make your party flow together nicely as they fit like a puzzle. As you level up they each have different abilities to help their quests. As each gets a leveling system too making them more powerful and helpful for the battles to come.
The combat is turn based system randomly deciding who starts the fight to get the edge thrown in it. As you use your abilities and strength to take down your enemies that stand in the way of your quest. But it is a very fast paced game even with the turned based combat. You level up nicely and not grind for days just to see that one more level to perfection. And it doesn’t feel boring with different monsters to fight and how much show up randomly as you walk or run to your destination.
Overall the game is fun I picked it up and couldn’t stop till I beat the game. You get very nice music and the lands look good with the themes. Combat isn’t really repetitive with a good variety of abilities and how you need to change your strategy to handle the battle. So for a game that cost 80 points ($1) it is well worth it and should try it out.
